I believe many of us love to have. We want to be able to meet financial and material obligations as at when required. We hate to be in need; living a life of insufficiency and lack. Naturally as people with ego, we hate to beg and depend on others to support and assist us frequently. We all cherish a situation where we are giving and helping others out. We hate to be a victim of poverty and lack. I hate poverty and I'm sure you do too.

Many keep confessing and endlessly state the fact that they hate poverty and can't afford to be poor. In fact some have referred to poverty as a disease! I've been thinking lately and I've been a bit curious so I asked this question, what exactly is poverty? What is poverty?

Wikipedia online dictionary defines poverty as the state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in amount leading to privation, neediness, destitution and indigence. Hmmm. I must confess I was a bit taken aback by this definition because I was looking for a definition connected to lack of cash; I was looking for a definition that would say something about money! Incidentally, nothing like it.

Then it struck me, poverty is not a matter of cash, it's a state of mind. Poverty has nothing to do with your pocket or bank balance, its more about your quality as a person and having enough stuff, sufficient stuff to offer.

Take a look around and you may see why people are poor. Talk to some people and you'll understand why many are poor. I believe it's more about a thinking or mindset gap; it's more about the quality of their persons and not the economic state of the nation.

Mansa Musa I of Mali is the richest human being in history with a personal net worth of $400 billion! Mansa Musa lived from 1280 - 1337 and ruled the Malian Empire which covered modern day Ghana, Timbuktu and Mali in West Africa. Mansa Musa's shocking wealth came from his country's vast production of more than half the world's supply of salt and gold. Musa used his wealth to build immense mosques that still stand today, nearly 700 years later. His kingdom and wealth didn't last much longer after his death. His heirs were not able to fend off civil war and invading conquerors. Just two generations later, his world record net worth was gone.

The best way to run your business meeting in 2014 revealed!

In this super-fast age of ours, good meeting etiquette is a necessity if any business must come good.

Quite often, organizations hold meetings within which strategies and business ideas are analyzed. But all too often, meetings run longer than necessary and consequently fail to keep attendees engaged.

Whether you're meeting with partners, vendors or employees, showcase your boardroom brilliance with these meeting musts:

  •   Determine the objectives. A clear goal will set the tone for the meeting and determine its direction. Your goal should be specific and measurable. If you're expecting attendees to brainstorm, ask each participant to arrive with a list of ideas.

  •   Ask yourself if a meeting is actually necessary. Meetings can be expensive. To calculate the precise cost, multiply the hourly wage of each person present by the length of the gathering. If your objective can be met through e-mail, conference call, Skype, or even a quick one-on-one discussion, skip the meeting altogether.

Many years ago in my days of paid employment, I used to work in a team of marketing experts with excellence driven, extremely intelligent and competent leadership.

In our Monday morning meetings, each one of these managers were expected to report on their various bit and obtain guidance, advice and support from other members of the team.

This experience was not a piece of cake; your report must be tight, accurate, flawless and coherent. If by any chance there is a gap in your report or an indication you didn\'t address an issue you reported efficiently, you’re  definitely going to come under severe fire and criticism by many members of the team, they won’t stop unless and until our director intervened.

Consequently, these meetings became a much revered experience, for some of us it became an emotional struggle or battle as it were, we would work hard crossing the ‘Is’ and dotting the ‘Ts’ to make sure we’re not the scapegoat of any of these meetings.

One of my friends; a colleague then had serious difficulty handling these intense and tension soaked meetings. Every time it was his turn to report his bit, he would immediately begin to sweat profusely.

He would lose...
